President Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have a “very awkward” meeting at the end of the first day of the Democratic National Convention, a Democratic source said Monday.

But while he has spoken publicly about his plans for the presidency, he has been vague about whether he will endorse the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton.
Trump has not endorsed the party’s nominee, but he has said he is interested in meeting with her, a move that would signal a shift from his approach during the campaign.
But he has also been mum about endorsing her, and his surrogates have suggested he could do so before the convention.
Trump’s camp did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The source, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the private meeting and spoke on condition of anonymity, said Trump and his wife, Melania, and their daughter, Tiffany, met at a hotel on Friday in Las Vegas.
They then stayed in a hotel room that was rented for their private event, the source said.
The person said the president told the couple, “I am not endorsing you.
I’m just really glad to see you.”
Trump was the first sitting president to publicly endorse Clinton in the run-up to the 2016 election.
Clinton has since declined to run for president.
A source familiar with the meeting said the two men did not have any specific discussions about issues such as health care, taxes, or the military.
The person said there was no formal conversation about policy, and there was little or no discussion about politics.
The Democratic source spoke on the condition of not being identified because they were not authorized by Trump’s team to speak to the press.
Trump’s aides have made no secret of the fact that he will not endorse Clinton, even as he is not publicly backing her.
During the campaign, the president repeatedly said he would not support her.
The White House did not respond to multiple requests for comment, and a spokeswoman did not return a request seeking comment from the Trump campaign.
Trump was asked during his remarks Sunday about Clinton’s health and her comments about the 2016 presidential race.
Trump said he could not talk about his health but that he was “totally healthy,” and said Clinton has been “very good” at public speech.
